A FUND is being launched to buy a minibus to transport worshippers.
Stockton Faith Network which represents Christianity, Hinduism, Islam and Sikhism, wants to ensure elderly residents can be taken to religious groups.
Julie Derbyshire, chief executive of Stockton Residents' and Community Groups' Association (SRCGA), said: "Stockton borough is a really diverse community so it is important that everyone has the opportunity to easily access activities for their faith and learn more about the beliefs of others.
"The Faith Network already does a great deal to open up access to faith based activities and the new MultiFaith Fund can only help build on this."
Chairman of the Faith Network Patrick Thompson said: "Our first priority is to help older people visit places of worship, take part in trips and meet people from across their community so our first project is to raise sufficient money to buy a multi-faith minibus.
"The minibus would be shared across all faiths and would be a fantastic asset for our communities so any support we receive will be gratefully received."
