A SCULPTURE has been unveiled in memory of a man who was instrumental in the launch of a wildlife reserve.
John Dickenson, of the Teesside Environmental Trust, played a leading role in securing the 1998 funding agreement for the RSPB reserve at Saltholme, near Billingham.
Hedied in April 2009, shortly after the opening of the centre, following a long illness.
The sculpture, which was unveiled on Saturday, was created by specialist artist blacksmith Brian Russell, of Little Newsham Forge.
It depicts a flourishing reed bed and includes seating for visitors.
