VOLUNTARY and community groups are being urged to stake a claim for up to £5,000 of funding to help boost their work.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council has £100,000 to give out as part of its Voluntary Grants Fund scheme.
Organisations working in neighbourhoods throughout the borough are being invited to apply for the money.
Grants are available in two categories - between £250 and £1,000, and £1,000 to £5,000.
The fund was established to show the council's support for voluntary and community groups which help to boost the economy, promote healthy living, ensure people feel protected and safe, encourage children and young people to aspire and achieve, and empower communities. A panel of council representatives will assess applications.
Councillor Lynn Pallister, cabinet member for housing and neighbourhood renewal, said: "Voluntary and community organisations play an absolutely vital role in our borough and this scheme offers a great opportunity for them to maintain and enhance their work."
Application forms and guidelines are available at redcar-cleveland.gov.uk Alternatively, call Gemma Bennison on 01287-612524 or email gemma.bennison@redcar-cleveland.gov.uk The closing date for applications is Friday, July 29, at 5pm.
