A FIGHT broke out after three people forced their way into a taxi that already had passengers.

Police said the assault took place in Saltburn at about 4am on Saturday when a Frontline taxi pulled up at a cash machine outside the NatWest Bank.

One of the two women who were passengers in the cab got out and went to the machine while the other stayed in the vehicle.

At that time, aman and two women approached the cab and got in saying they wanted to go to the Skelton area. A fight broke out.

Officers believe the taxi then drove round to Marine Parade with the fight going on inside the car and the two original passengers got out.

One was then assaulted outside the car.

One victim, age 25, suffered a broken nose, two black eyes and suspected broken cheek bones.

The other, who is 18, had a cut to her arm and bruising to her abdomen.

The male suspect is described as white, aged 24 to 25, 6ft tall and of muscular build.

He has sandy-coloured hair, shorter on the sides than the top. He was wearing a tight navy T-shirt and blue denim jeans.

The women are described as 5ft 5in or 5ft 6in.

One had straight blonde hair and the other had wavy blonde hair. They were dressed similarly, with black tight-fitted suit tops and hotpants with tights underneath and shoes.

Anyone who saw the taxi in Station Street at this time or an altercation taking place is asked to contact PC Steve Craig, of Saltburn Police, on 01642-302626 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
