A PRIMARY school opened its doors to the community in a special fun event with a message.
More than 300 people visited Yarm Primary School for the school's Our Big Community day.
A highlight was the visit of the Lions of Zululand, an African tribal dance group.
Visitors were able to find about how the school is committed to a Kenyan primary school. The headteacher and assistant of the African school were on hand discuss how the connection has benefited their school and how the children of Ya rm Primary had paid for two cows for the village.
The Brownies also attended as well and local dentists and a representative of the Stockton fostering agency also attended.
Jenny Garland, the school's business manager, said: "This was our second Our Big Community event after last year's World Cup, and we were really pleased with how many people came, despite the rain.
"There was a cafe, facepainting and bouncy castle so, as well as the more serious messages about our commitments, there was plenty of fun to be had.
Most people who came were connected to the school, but we invited anyone in the community and had signs in the town."
