A £2M science block has been opened at a Teesside college.
Professor Christopher Higgins, vice-chancellor of Durham University, led the ceremony at Stockton Sixth Form College, on Friday.
The two-storey extension links to the maths and English block and replaces the old science laboratories, which are to be transformed into art studios in a £1.5m scheme.
The ceremony was also attended by the Mayor of Stockton, Councillor Paul Baker, Stockton North MP Alex Cunningham and Stockton South MP James Wharton.
College principal Martin Clinton said: "Stockton Sixth Form College is committed to providing our students with the best possible facilities to enhance and enrich their learning experience and it is very satisfying to see the way our site has evolved with an ongoing programme of building improvements.
"When all the building and refurbishing work is complete, we will have invested in excess of £5m on site improvement and, despite the current economic climate, this is genuinely good news for the whole area."
