A BUSY car park in Stockton is set to benefit from a £1.4m refurbishment.

Work on the first phase of the improvements to the Castlegate Shopping Centre's multi-storey car park, just off the High Street, is expected to be completed in October.

The second phase will begin next spring, and is designed to improve safety for shoppers.

John Clift, Castlegate Shopping Centre manager, said: "To cause as little disruption as possible, work will be conducted on a rolling floor-byfloor basis and access to both car park entrances will remain open at all times.

"We ask for understanding during these works but the wait andminimum disruption will certainly be worth it."
