AFTER helping launch a group of small retailers six months ago, a project is now looking to give more entrepreneurs a lucky break.
The Corner Emporium at the Grange Road entrance to The Mall shopping centre, in Middlesbrough, has attracted thousands of shoppers since it opened last December.
The empty unit was turned into a bustling marketplace allowing ten start-up businesses to showcase their products for free.
The store has now closed with all the enterprises successfully moving on to new premises.
The Craftery, The Curvaceous Wardrobe, Curious and Utopia, and Enchanted (formerly Mystic League) are all moving into their own units, while Michelle Parratt, Lauren Crawford and Fudge Fancies are continuing to sell through local stockists.
Charlie Rooney, Middlesbrough Council's executive member for regeneration and economic development, said: "These are tough times for everyone and it can be particularly hard for new businesses trying to establish themselves, so it's great to see these enterprises getting off the ground."
The council is now looking for new retailers who need business support and a shop to trade from as they prepare to launch the Corner Emporium for a fresh phase.
