A REVAMPED library is celebrating its first anniversary after attracting more than 75,000 visitors over the past year.
The Library@South Bank, run by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, has become a major focal point for the community since opening its doors.
New figures reveal that nearly 20,000 more people are visiting than in the previous year when it was based in the old South Bank library, next door.
The new-look library has been a hit with many community groups, including the Carers Together charity, which uses the facilities to run successful IT courses.
Tutor Janine Quinn said: "Carers can often feel isolated and we have been holding sessions here to help break down some barriers and improve communication.
"The new library is perfect for us - the staff are brilliant and they really look after me and the carers.
"Everything is so interactive, so we're made to feel a part of things."
The library is now part of the Low Grange Health Village, in Normanby Road, sharing the site with NHS Redcar and Cleveland's walk-in centre, a pharmacy and the council's customer service point for the area.
