MOTORISTS using a busy North-East road are being warned about overnight resurfacing works.
The A19, north of Middlesbrough, will be subject to night time closures for up to three weeks from Sunday, June 19.
The northbound carriageway will be closed completely from 8pm to 6am between Sunday evenings and Friday mornings with a 50mph speed limit in place on a temporary road surface during the day.
When the carriageway is closed for the overnight work, traffic will be diverted eastbound to Hartlepool via the A689 and then onto the westbound A179 to rejoin the A19 at the Sheraton interchange.
Highways Agency project manager, Andrew Crawford, said: “This work will improve the road surface for all users and minimise the need for future roadworks.
“The overnight closures unavoidably involve quite a lengthy diversion and we ask that drivers consider that when planning their journeys.”
