POLICE on Teesside are warning riders of off-road motorbikes and scooters that they could have their machines seized and crushed.
Officers have been told of young men riding round the area at all hours of the day in a noisy and anti-socialmanner.
A police spokesman said riders were not usually wearing helmets, putting themselves at risk, and they often did not hold the appropriate licence or insurance.
The majority of complaints are made to police during the evening and weekends.
Acting Sergeant Avril Dimelow said: "We are taking steps to clamp down on this behaviour, which is extremely distressing for the law-abiding majority.
"We are now asking for residents' help in providing details of where these bikes are coming from, where they are stored or garaged and who is riding them.
"Anyone taking part in nuisance use of off-road motorcycles can rest assured we will use all legislation available to us to tackle this problemwhich can blight communities and spoil residents' quality of life."
