TEENAGERS have been using their green fingers as they build relationships with businesses.

The eight youngsters, aged 14 to 16, have been involved in a project to build and cultivate planters of flowers and vegetables, which have been presented tobusinesses in Saltburn to enhance their exteriors.

The project, which has been organised by Turning the Corner (TTC) and Huntcliff School, involved 18 workshops where the young people have had the chance to learn skills in horticulture, block paving and decking.

TTC is an initiative delivered by Groundwork North-East and funded by the Big Lottery Fund that aims to challenge negative perceptions and attitudes surrounding young people.

The project has provided an opportunity for local businesses and young people to work together, and as a result four businesses and organisations have signed a pledge to highlight that they are a young person friendly establishment.
