A SAFETY-conscious seven-year-old has prompted a council to reduce the speed limit in her local park.
Evie Russell complained to Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council about vehicles entering Eston recreation ground.
She feared that a member of her family could be knocked over while out walking her dog, Toby.
She was also worried that other young children could be at risk.
The council has now installed a 5mph sign at the entrance to the park.
Neighbourhood officers and the council's road safety mascot Spikey the Hedgehog attended an assembly at Evie's school, St Margaret Clitherow RC School, in South Bank.
George Dunning, leader of Redcar and Cleveland council, said: "This is a lovely story of a young person thinking of the welfare of others.
"We hope she feels that her walks with Toby will now be stress free."
