PEOPLE are being urged to take part in a clean-up campaign.
The borough council has relaunched its successful Spring Clean Hartlepool scheme and hopes local people will support it by staging Big Tidy Up events.
Environmental projects officer Kate Ainger said: "This is all about community action at a grassroots level and we need the support of local people to make it a success.
"We would urge people to do their bit, which could involve clearing litter and other rubbish from land in their neighbourhoods, so that the town becomes a cleaner, safer and more attractive place."
The council is offering free hire of litter picking equipment and will also supply refuse sacks and take away all rubbish as long as collections are arranged at least one week in advance.
