A BOY who created an imaginative footbridge to span the Tees has seen it take pride of place in a museum exhibition.
Andrew Hartshorne, 13, from Oakfields Community College, Middlesbrough, made the winning bridge as part of a project called Design for Life.
Students worked with architect and designer Christoph Oschatz to design a pedestrian bridge to stand beside the iconic Transporter Bridge.
The winning multicoloured bridge, which features a large umbrella and angular shapes, was designed by his fellow year nine pupil Chelsey James.
Andrew then fabricated the design on a larger scale and it was placed in the Dorman Museum as part of the Inspiring Bridges exhibition.
Andrew said: "I was surprised when I found out it was to be on show in the museum.
"It makes me feel proud."
The work of the students who took part in the project, together with a photographic record of the design process, can be viewed in the ground floor corridor area of the Dorman Museum. Inspiring Bridges runs until December.
