A BOWLS club is celebrating after receiving a grant for £2,760.
Pallister Park Community Bowls, in Middlesbrough, was awarded the money by Tees Valley Community Foundation. The grant came via the Active At 60 initiative run by the Department for Work and Pensions to help older people keep active.
Harry Shaw, from Pallister Park Community Bowls, said: "This funding will really help increase the number of people wanting to play bowls. The money will be used to fund individual green fees, additional scoreboards and jacks."
Michelle Smith, grants coordinator at Tees Valley Community Foundation, said: "Often, once people finish their jobs they find they haven't got any hobbies.
"At Pallister Park, there's a real social side to it as well, so involvement can help prevent isolation."
Tees Valley Community Foundation has worked for 25 years to reinvest donations from local businesses back into the community.
It also manages grant applications on behalf of other organisations, including Active at 60.
