A CHILDREN'S autism charity has raised £14,000 from a race night.
Norton-based Daisy Chain held the event at Sedgefield Racecourse to raise funds to support families who are affected in the region.
The evening was hosted by radio presenter and ambassador for the People's Postcode Lottery, Judy McCourt, and a presentation about Daisy Chain's work was given to guests.
Matt Simpson, chief executive of Daisy Chain, said: "We were overwhelmed by the level of support and generosity of our guests and sponsors on the evening.
"We had actually aimed to raise £6,000 on the night, so to more than double our target amount is outstanding.
"Due to the success of the evening we are planning to make it an annual event at Sedgefield Racecourse and have already scheduled a race night to be held at Newcastle Racecourse in June."
More than 100 sponsors and supporters of the charity enjoyed the races from the VIP hospitality suite.
Tickets for the charity's evening at Newcastle Racecourse on Friday, June 24, are available on 01642-531248.
