THE celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of the founding of Saltburn have started with the arrival of a new exhibition.
The exhibits include a log book showing the number of people who crossed the now-demolished Halfpenny Bridge in the 1880s, bridge crest lent by Skelton Castle, and photographs of Medd's grocery shop.
Saltburn Community and Arts Association have organised a series of events throughout the year, ranging from lighting up Huntcliff to a real ale festival, as residents show their pride in the town.
The year's main focus will be in August, the anniversary of the first train arriving in the east Cleveland town. It is hoped a steam locomotive will visit Saltburn, but no decisions have yet been made.
