A TEAM of volunteers have been getting their hands dirty clearing undergrowth from the banks of Spencer Beck in east Middlesbrough.
The event, co-ordinated by one of Middlesbrough Council's neighbourhood development teams - STEM, saw youngsters from Caldicotes Primary School join forces with bank workers, local residents and other volunteers, to carryout the work.
Throughout the day, they rolled up their sleeves to clear undergrowth from the beck banks, remove overhanging branches and litter-picking the area.
Community development worker Linda Kime said: "It went absolutely fantastic, we made great progress on the work we wanted to do. We have been focusing in the pathways around the beck to increase access and improve safety."
