VULNERABLE people could have their central heating problems solved if they access free funding for repairs or replacement.
TADEA, the not-for-profit energy advice service for the North of England, has launched a scheme to provide emergency services for households in Middlesbrough.
The Billingham-based company is working with Middlesbrough Council to provide the free service to help reduce cold-related illness and fuel poverty.
David Morgan, TADEA project manager, said: "The scheme is essentially for vulnerable people in urgent need of assistance who cannot wait for other programmes to respond. This includes the elderly, people with disabilities and families with young or disabled children.
"We will make a prompt decision as to whether an applicant qualifies and appoint a qualified and accredited heating engineer to undertake the work, including an initial survey. I urge anyone that has a problem with their central heating and thinks they could qualify for assistance to contact us immediately."
