It will be the culmination of a programnme of training and competition by 14 to 19-year-olds across Darlington, Hartlepool, Redcar and Cleveland, Stockton and Middlesbrough The young people will compete in netball, table tennis, rock-it-ball, street dance, basketball, trampolining and girls football Jean Lordon, executive director of Tees Valley Sport, said: "It is hoped that the training and competition experienced, the fun enjoyed and friendships made will keep all these young people involved in sport, encourage them to join clubs and to remain active throughout their lives. "One of the most exciting elements of the games is that they celebrate the sporting achievements of 16 to 19-year-olds. "Traditionally seen as a time when young people turn away from sport, the mix of established and new sports and activities are designed to retain their interest and an active lifestyle. "The involvement of local clubs and community groups also provides an opportunity to sustain this interest after the games."
