NOMINATIONS are being sought for a biennial Design Award Scheme recognising the talents of architects, property owners, builders and developers The competition is open to anyone involved in property development and members of the public can put forward their own nominations.

The latest winners included the refurbishment of a former seaside gatehouse into a two-bedroomed home at Saltburn and a 1920s conservatory at a home in Guisborough.

Councillor Peter Spencer, Redcar and Cleveland Councils design champion, said: "The quality of urban design affects everyone in Redcar and Cleveland and our enjoyment of life in our Borough.

"These awards reflect the Council's desire to recognise and promote high quality standards of architecture."

The scheme is open to projects within the Borough, excluding the area lying in the North York Moor National Park, completed between April 4, 2008 and April 2, 2010. Closing date for entries is Monday, April 5.

Plaques and certificates will be presented to winning and commended schemes at an awards ceremony to be held later in the year.
