A TEESSIDE St John Ambulance cadet has attended a Buckingham Palace reception for Young Achievers.
Matthew Robinson, 14, who suffers from mild cerebral palsy, was nominated for his outstanding achievements.
During the reception he was congratulated by HRH The Princess Royal, who is Commandant in Chief (Youth) of St John Ambulance.
The teenager, of Mastiles Close, Ingleby Barwick, said: "The Princess Royal took a great interest in all of us. She wanted to know where I came from and which unit I was in. And I told her how much I liked being a member of St John Ambulance and how I particularly enjoyed the camps. She was great."
His mother, Miss Clare Robinson, said: "I'm so proud of him. Since he joined St John Ambulance four years ago, the leaders and other cadets have really brought him on, especially his self confidence. Hes made lots of new friends. With a bit of support, hell have a go at any activity. He especially enjoys the camping trips."
