POLICE cadets have received special praise for the work they have done within the community.
The 14 Cleveland Police recruits have carried out more than 240 hours of community volunteering in the past nine months.
A s part of the Cleveland Police Cadet Programme, the group have been have taken part in a range of activities designed to give them a broader understanding of police operations and the community.
The cadets organised a "Crucial Crew" event at Middlesbrough College, which teaches children about safety and a number of charity fundraisers, including Cleveland Police’s Golf Am-Am and bag packing.
Chairman of Cleveland Police Authority, Councillor Dave McLuckie said: "The image and professionalism the cadets have shown at various events is a credit to themselves and the force.
"It is good to see young people serving the communities they represent and helping to strengthen the links between local people and their police service."
Deputy Chief Constable of Cleveland Police, Derek Bonnard, said: "It’s extremely rewarding to see how much the cadets have developed since they joined the programme.
"We are delighted at the progress that all our young people are making and the contributions they are making to their local communities."
