BUDDING young interior designers across Teesside are using their skills to help a housing scheme.

The teenagers have been asked to make their mark on Parkfield Hall, in Stockton, by choosing flooring, paint colours, tiles, and furniture.

The development, which is due for completion next month, will house youngsters aged 16 to 25-years-old It replaces a former unused building on the Bowesfield Lane site.

Staff, based there 24 hours-a-day, will provide support for the young people who will also receive essential life training skills as part of an agreement with Stockton Borough Council.

Tom Kelly, 19, from Lower Grange in Billingham, helped with the scheme.

He said: "It is fantastic that young people are being given a say on the development, it will make it more comfortable for the youngsters that will be living there if it is more suited to their taste."

Diane Cosstick, supported housing manager for Endeavour Housing Association, said: "We take every stage of the planning process seriously and are delighted to have local young people helping us with these decisions as it is their peers who will benefit in the long term."
