CYCLISTS in Ingleby Barwick are being urged secure their bikes when using a popular park.
The Ingleby Barwick neighbourhood police team have seen an increase in the number thefts reported by youngsters using Romano Park.
Youngsters are reportedly leaving their bikes unlocked and unattended at the gates.
PC Katrina Clarke, of the Neighbourhood Police Officers for Ingleby Barwick said: "There are bike stands at the entrance of the park and railings around the perimeter of the park.
"We are encouraging people who come to the park on their bikes to lock them securely before entering the area."
Free cycle marking and locks will be given away to youngsters at a special event in Tesco’s car park, on Saturday at 1.30pm.
The locks have been kindly donated by the Ingleby Barwick Independent Society.
