SCHOOLGIRL Ellena Suddick will be getting Redcar and Cleveland Council's annual fireworks display off to a sparkling start when she presses the button to begin the display.
The seven-year-old, from Eston, won a competition in the latest edition of Primary Times after correctly answering that the building Guy Fawkes tried to blow up was the Houses of Parliament.
She said: "I am really excited to be starting the fireworks and I am pleased that I got the question right and won the competition."
This year's fireworks display will be fired off in a secure area on The Stray car park, starting at 7.30pm, against a background of music, hosted by TFM Radio DJ Scott Makin.
A stretch of the Coast Road will be closed to traffic from 6pm, reopening at approximately 8.30pm.
There will be a free park and ride bus service from the Majuba Road car park, with four 26-seater minibuses starting a shuttle service from 6pm. Return journeys to the car park will begin from 7.30pm onwards.
And the annual Skinningrove Bonfire on Thursday, November 5, celebrates the Odin's Glow event, with organisers planning to build Odin's Viking boat. The event starts at 6.30pm on the beach.
