TIRELESS fundraiser Pauline Martin has once again pulled out the stops for the hospital staff caring for her.
She has raised thousands of pounds for The James Cook University Hospital since being diagnosed with cancer in 2006 but unfortunately, has a slow growing tumour on her pancreas for which there is no cure.
While she still attends the hospital regularly, she is a very active fundraiser for the radiotherapy and radiology departments.
Working with a group of friends she describes as her supporting network she recently organised a strawberry tea and sponsored walk in Saltburn.
The events raised £2,500 to be shared between both departments and will pay for illuminated panels in clinical areas in the existing radiotherapy/oncology department, where patients spend prolonged periods of time.
She said: "These are events on the social calendar now where people look forward to getting together and Ive had tremendous support from my family, friends and the local community who always generously given money. Im glad I can help out and it is amazing how the money has grown over the years to more than £16,000."
She presented the money to chief of service for radiology Dr Jeremy Dean and Dr Nick Wadd, a consultant clinical oncologist.
And the Brotton mother-of-two is already busy organising her next event - a Halloween party - at Carlin How club this week.
