THE search for a new team of cadets has been launched by Cleveland Police.
The recruits are needed in Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Stockton and Redcar and Cleveland Districts.
Candidates have four weeks to get their application form in and applicants must be aged between 13 and 17 years old.
They can come from a variety of backgrounds and the scheme offers them the chance to develop life and citizenship skills while becoming involved in community activities.
Deputy Chief Constable of Cleveland Police Derek Bonnard said: "The feedback that we have had from the young people who have joined the Cadet scheme has been extremely positive so far.
"They feel really engaged with the programme, and are learning valuable skills as well as making new friends.
"I am pleased that we can throw open the opportunity for more young people to come forward and join the scheme " all we are looking for is commitment and enthusiasm."
Cadets meet on a weekly basis in all four Districts with Police Officers, Police Community Support Officers, Youth Workers and Volunteers.
They learn about what it means to be a member of the wider policing family, the values that Cleveland work to, particularly the Putting People First programme and also the different roles within the police.
Cleveland Police Authority member Pam Andrews-Mawer said: "There's no doubt that already the young people who have joined the programme have benefited enormously both in the training and actually getting involved in helping their local communities.
"We are committed to involving and working with all sections of the community and that includes young people.
"I'd urge any youngster who wants the chance to learn about the police and get involved in a variety of interesting activities to consider making an application to join the scheme."
In May, a total of 68 Cadets passed their training and have taken part in a full programme of activities over the summer.
Applications can be downloaded from cleveland.police.uk or safeinteesvalley.org or applicants can call 0845 271 3883. Completed applications must be returned by 5pm on Friday, November, 20.
