A COMMUNITY centre has re-opened its doors with help from a lottery grant.
The new look Wilson Centre in Long Newton, Stockton was unveiled on Saturday after help from a £266,000 grant from the lottery.
Members of the surrounding community and the centre’s management also helped by raising money for the redevelopment.
It was originally built in 1886 with money given from the village rector, Reverand Wilson. The refurbished centre will continue to serve the needs of the community into the 21st century.
It will offer WiFi screens, audio visual equipment, a new kitchen, meeting rooms, disabled facilities and a new car park.
The opening of the centre will be launched with a Gala Re-opening Week until Saturday October, 24 with events available for all age groups.
