A DOG trainer has zoomed her way into first place in the Crufts class she has now won two years in a row with an obedient malinois.

Rebecca Williams, from Billingham, who has been training dogs since she was nine years old, took part in two classes run by the Young Kennel Club at this year's Crufts.

It is the fourth year she has competed in the world's biggest dog show.

She had four dogs in the high flyers obedience class, and the novice category, picking up a first place, two seconds and a fifth.

She trains with Walk n Train, run by Maureen Conlin, at Dalton Piercy and is also branching out into agility.

She impressed judges and onlookers with her patience, ability to think on her feet and her handling skills to get the best out of each dog.

First to compete were Kaos, a blue and white collie, and Zoom, a Malinois which had been loaned to Miss Williams, in the high flyers class.

The round ended with Zoom in first place and Kaos in second.

Kaos was praised for his keen, attractive heel work but being a touch forward and slight crabbing cost him marks.

Zoom, sporting a sparkly gold collar which showed up well against his short coat, put his heart and soul into the round, producing an accurate sendaway and tidy reprieve.

Both dogs had clear stays and scent

It was the second year in a row she won the class

The following day saw Miss Williams compete in novice with Kaos, Maxie, a blue merle collie, and Taz, the family’s shaggy chocolate border collie/poodle.

The ever reliable Kaos produced even better heel work than in high flyers, a super speedy recall and just a slightly untidy retrieve to claim second place,

Taz was placed fifth.

Last year the young trainer, whose mother Jeanette is also a keen obedience handler, won both of the categories at last year's Cruft and she is hoping to return next year for the hat trick.

The four day competition finishes tonight.
