SCI-FI characters will take over a town centre for the fifth free sci-fi event.

On Saturday, July 6, EWOKS, the Hulk, Daleks and Yoda, will join dozens of other popular characters at the Kapow Sci-Fi market and family fun day in Stockton.

The event, which runs between 10am and 4pm, will feature more than 20 traders in sci-fi, TV and film related merchandise, action figures and collectables.

Councillor Jim Beall of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council said: "Now in its fifth year, Kapow is the region’s only free sci-fi event of its kind and this year’s programme is fantastic.

“Whether you are a sci-fi fan or not, there is plenty to see and do so it’s sure to be a memorable, fun day for families and people of all ages.

“It’s also a great opportunity to pop in for a coffee or a bite to eat at one of the town’s cafes or restaurants, and why not browse the range of high quality independent shops that are unique to Stockton.”

As part of the line-up, displays of Star Wars, Doctor Who, Harry Potter and Marvel, will be shown.

Martin Shipley, one of the event's organisers, said: "“There’ll be plenty of stalls to browse in the High Street marquee and a whole host of free special activities are planned too. You can meet your favourite characters and even design your own monster. It’s not to be missed – make sure you come down and enjoy the day with us.”
