AN MP has donned his Christmas jumper and held a coffee morning to raise money for charity.

Mike Hill, Hartlepool MP, held a coffee morning at his South Road office earlier this month to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and the Trussell Trust who run the Hartlepool Foodbank on Church Street.

The event raise £580 for good causes.

Mr Hill said: "We had an amazing day and I was overwhelmed by the support we got from people right across the town.

"We had an excellent turnout and I would particularly like to thank representatives from the Nasir Mosque for their very generous contributions as well as everyone else.

"Honestly I was blown away by the generosity of ordinary people wanting to support Macmillan Cancer Care and the local foodbank.

"In total we raised £580 and received lots of food donations for the Trussell Trust. A big thank you to everyone who baked cakes and helped make it a thoroughly enjoyable event."

Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the largest British charities and provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer.

Macmillan also looks at the social, emotional and practical impact cancer can have.
