THE damaged roof of a gymnastics club can be repaired thanks to a donation from a building society.
Staff at Darlington Building Society in Middlesbrough nominated Acklam Gymnastics Club to receive a £250 annual community donation after they heard about the damaged roof from customer and Anita Waters.
Mrs Waters volunteers at the club, which relies on support from the local community.
Staff at each branch can choose to make a donation to local worthy causes from the building society's community support fund.
Mrs Waters said: “We are very grateful for the donation from Darlington Building Society and it will go a really long way in helping us continue to run Acklam Gymnastics club, as without donations the children would no longer be able to participate.
“As a customer of the Society 34 years I am delighted that Middlesbrough branch staff have been kind enough to take a close interest in what really matters to both its customers and the local community.”
