MINI entrepreneurs across the borough of Stockton tried their hand at setting up in business including a jam-making enterprise this week.
The enterprising activities were held to mark Global Entrepreneurship Week, a world-wide campaign to expose people of all ages and backgrounds to the world of entrepreneurship.
The start of the week saw children from nine schools come together for a special Bright Ideas Primary Challenge at Billingham Community Centre.
The challenge saw young people aged nine to 11 years work together in small teams to come up with innovative business ideas and pitch their ideas to business mentors to get their business off to a start.
Youngsters aged 13 to 16 from Redhill Education Centre successfully sold jams and preserves from their very own counter in the new Enterprise Arcade building on Stockton High Street.
The pupils not only created the products but have planned all aspects of their self-funding business which is called ‘Nannie Nora’s’.
Councillor Mike Smith, Stockton Council’s cabinet member for regeneration and transport, said: “This is the fifth year running that we have run a series of enterprising events to mark Global Entrepreneurship Week. We want to foster entrepreneurial spirit in Stockton borough as early as possible."
