A SHOW that includes real drunken stories submitted by the public is coming to Stockton to highlight the dangers of binge-drinking.
Thirsty was developed by Leeds-based theatre The Paper Birds and maps the trial and tribulations of a night out from the perspective of two drink-loving women.
The show stars Jemma McDonnell and Kyle Walsh, who set up a special voicemail system in bars across the country to capture the traumas of a real night out.
It arrives in Stockton the week after Alcohol Awareness Week, which aims to help people face their alcohol problems.
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust treated 1,155 adults with alcohol poisoning last year. County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham, saw a further 1,101 adults.
Nearly 200 people under 18 were treated, including 145 who were aged 16 years or younger.
In February Middlesbrough was named as the first town in the region to take part in a new Government pilot scheme to combat drink-fuelled crime and disorder.
The show will be at ARC, in Stockton Arts Centre, on Wednesday, November 26, and Thursday, November 27 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £12 and £10 for concessions.
