A COMPANY that has cut carbon emissions in Teesside by 300,000 tonnes has been honoured at an international ceremony.
Community Energy Solutions (CES) was awarded the Environmental Best Practice Award by The Green Organisation at its 18th annual event.
The Teesside-based firm was honoured at the ceremony held at the House of Commons on November 10.
The awards were supported by the Environment Agency and aim to recognise Britain's greenest companies.
CES was praised for its GoWarm Scheme in Stockton, which helps reduce carbon emissions, tackle fuel poverty and facilitate urban regeneration.
Karen Hindhaugh, director of GoWarm, said: “The GoWarm project and its sister scheme in Middlesbrough have proven extremely successful over the past few years and we are delighted that this has been recognised by the Green Apple Awards 2014.
“The award is testament to the hard work of everyone involved with the project to date and we look forward to similar success in the months and years to come.”
CES has already helped 2,500 homes across Stockton and Thornaby to improve their energy efficiency and reduce their fuel bills by up to £750 a year.
Stockton Borough Council has agreed to continue its partnership with CES until 2015 and the scheme is being extended to cover the entire borough.
