PEOPLE are being asked to have a hunt in their lofts for everyday items from yesteryear to donate to an old people's home.
A 'reminiscence room' is being created at the Parkville Care Centre in Middlesbrough and the idea is to recreate a typical living room with items from the 1930s and 1940s.
However, staff also want anything from years gone by that would spark memories of residents in the home.
Pam Lawson, manager of the care centre, said: "We had somebody brining in knitting patterns and I'm looking at a coin with Queen Victoria's head on here. But it can be anything that will stimulate a discussion, especially for people with dementia who often have long-term memories.
"We like things from the area from the world of work and leisure, or it could be something to do with family. Anything that will start a conservation."
Staff have already bought old wall-paper for the living room have a wireless from the time but are looking for more old-time household goods to fill the space.
The entrance of the Parkville Centre is on Walpole Street, just off Union Street, and staff will sometimes collect items. Call 01642 223334 if you can help.
