EXCAVATION works are under way this afternoon (Thursday, February 20) to locate a gas escape near a busy Middlesbrough junction.
Lane restrictions will be in place on the eastbound carriageway of Borough Road prior to the junction with Marton Road.
Northern Gas Networks is unable to predict how long it will be before the problem is rectified but delays are inevitable, especially during peak periods.
Gordon Thompson, customer operations area manager for Northern Gas Networks, said: “Please be assured that we are working hard to complete this essential work as quickly as possible, with minimum disruption to motorists.
“We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.”
Anyone who smells gas should ring the national gas emergency service, any time, day or night on 0800-111-999.
