A programme of free sports and activities has been lined up for children and young people in Hartlepool over next week’s half term holidays.
Trampolining, archery and basketball are just some of the sessions being organised by Hartlepool Council’s Sport and Physical Activity Team at venues around the town.
Starting on Monday, February, 17, the Headland sports hall is hosting basketball for youngsters aged 11 and over from 10am until noon and table tennis for children aged over 11 from 1pm to 3pm.

CHARITY QUIZ: A quiz night is being held on Wednesday, February 26, at 7.30pm, at Tees and Hartlepool Yacht Club in the West Harbour, Hartlepool. Money raised will go towards the mayor of Hartlepool Councillor Stephen Akers-Belcher’s Charity Fund in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, the Pansies Breast Cancer Support Group and the Denise Taylor Cancer Trust. Tickets cost just £3 per person, which includes soup and a roll. Teams are limited to six people, competitors people can make up a team of their own, or be allocated to one on the evening. PET CARE: The elderly and terminally ill people living in Teesside can live with their pets for as long as possible with help from The Cinnamon Trust, a national charity, which has a team of volunteers who assist with dog walking, feeding, grooming and medication. The trust also provides short term foster care for pets whose owners face a spell in hospital and provides advice available for people going into residential care as well as producing a guide to’pet-friendly’ care homes. MYPLACE ACTIVITIES: A week of fun activities will be taking place at Middlesbrough’s Myplace including trips out, swimming sessions, drama, arts and crafts, and a disco. It will run during half-term from Monday, February 17 to Friday, February 21, at the purpose-built youth centre at the Customs House, North Street, aimed at children from eight to 13. Each day will see the playscheme open at 8.30am with collections until 4pm. It costs £10 per day including a free breakfast for each child. A £5 discount is available to those booking for the whole week. Options for lunchtime are to either bring a packed lunch or to buy dinner at Myplace at a small cost.
