STUDENTS and staff at a Guisborough college have been donating food items for locals in crisis across the borough for the past few weeks.
From pasta to puddings and biscuits to beans, Prior Pursglove College will now hand over the much needed donations to Redcar Food Bank while the Students’ Union has also provided a £100 donation to help the worthy cause.
Vice-President of the Students’ Union Jake Parkins, 18, who is a keen supporter of food banks said: “In times of economic despair it is vital to help those most in need. We will continue to show our support to those affected by poverty within our local community.”
Kym Deyn, a 17-year-old student, said: “It is important to get involved as those in need could be our neighbours, family and friends.”
Peter Hughes, from Knights Catering, who runs the College cafeteria, also added to the collection.
Principal Judy Burton added: “It has been great to see schools and colleges within Redcar and Cleveland getting involved and raising awareness of food banks in our local communities.”
