PEOPLE are invited give their views on the next phase of a project to strengthen the sea defences on Hartlepool’s Headland against the effects of coastal erosion.
Hartlepool Borough Council is holding a drop-in exhibition on Tuesday, February 11 in the Borough Hall on the Headland between noon and 6pm to present its proposed option for upgrading the sea wall in the area around the Heugh Gun Battery and the Block Sands.
Kieran Bostock, the council’s senior engineer, said: “The existing block wall dates from the 1800s and is in a very poor condition in places due to constant erosion by the sea.
“The option which we are proposing will considerably improve the wall and provide a strong defence against the sea for the next 100 years.
“We hope that as many people as possible will drop in on Tuesday’s event to find out more about the proposals and give us their views.”
If people are not able to attend the event, the proposals will also be available to view and comment on after the event at www.hartlepoolcoastal.com
