WORK has started on the second phase of a major redevelopment of an Eaglescliffe primary school.

Eight new classrooms are being created at Junction Farm Primary School together with a new dedicated ICT Suite and extended playing fields.

Headteacher Karen Norton said: “The children, teachers and governors of the school have played a large part in designing the extension with local authority guidance and help from their architect.

"We are keenly watching the building developments on a daily basis and can’t wait for the completion of the extension to give us the space to further develop the provision we offer at the school.”

Last year the nursery was extended and an existing room was refurbished to provide an additional reception classroom.

The first phase of works also saw the construction of a new studio which can be used for a range of activities including games, drama and music.

Councillor Ann McCoy, Stockton Borough Council’s cabinet member for children and young people, said: “This investment is creating a fantastic learning environment which will really benefit the children who attend the school."

The whole £2m project will be complete by the end of this year.
