A REFURBISHED post office has re-opened in Yarm.
The post office was closed last month but has now reopened and is providing an extra five hours of service on Saturdays.
It was re-opened by James Wharton, MP for the area, along with subpostmaster Lakhjit Singh Dhami.
Mr Wharton said: “Visiting Lakhjit and his fantastic team at Yarm Post office today was a real pleasure.
“The Post Office is a major part of communities across the UK and that’s as true here as it is anywhere else. The range and quality of post office services keeps getting better and we can all see today that Yarm Post Office has a branch to match.”
“I hope that Lakhjit and all of the staff here have the support of local people and I wish them the best as they move forward.”
Yarm Post Office is one of the new open-plan style post offices.
Mr Singh Dhami said: “All the feedback we’ve had from customers has been really positive so far. They’ve got a lot more space to do business. The way we’ve got the counters now, it seems there’s a lot more space.
