A FAMILY of animals more often associated with the African savannah have made a new home for themselves in the grounds of a school.
And the trio of giraffes have proved extremely popular with students at Dormanstown Primary School who have been inspired to work with Zimbabwean artists to create their own stone sculptures.
The pupils have been working with a pair of artists from Matombo (CORR) to make their own sculptures of a human family to complement the giraffes.
Deputy headteacher Sue Skillcorn (CORR) said: “The giraffes have proved incredibly popular with the pupils – they absolutely love them - and they have been really excited to work with the artists from Matombo.
“All of the children will have had the opportunity to work on the sculpture and they will be proudly on display in the school grounds when they are finished.”
