DETECTIVES in Cleveland are to repeat a successful operation they ran just a few weeks ago.
Operation Night Arrow in the Redcar and east Cleveland area tackles crime and anti social behaviour committed during the hours of darkness.
It aims to target known or suspected offenders while providing reassurance to residents.
From Monday, May 20 plain clothed officers will patrol hotspot areas, hoping to catch perpetrators in the act.
Officers will also be checking on offenders who are currently on bail, to make sure they are complying with their bail conditions. And known prolific offenders will get a home visit from police, reducing their chances to reoffend.
Det Insp Mark Dimelow, of Redcar and Cleveland Police, said: “The last Night Arrow in March was extremely successful. We reduced criminals’ ability to operate within our district and we’d like to build on this success.
“This time we will have input from the Probation Service and from HM Prison Service and I welcome their contribution to Night Arrow.
“By using intelligence systems to direct resources to the right places we can work efficiently and effectively to target, disrupt and arrest offenders while preventing and detecting crime.”
The previous Operation Night Arrow saw officers carry out a total of 34 curfew checks on offenders who were on bail, to ensure they were complying with their imposed bail conditions.
They also carried out 53 home visits on identified prolific offenders.
