THORNABY Labour Party has elected a new chairman.
Former Stockton borough councillor for the Yarm area and Labour Party member for 30 years, Terry Murphy, was elected at the group’s annual general meeting. Thornaby is largely represented by independents on both Stockton Borough Council and Thornaby Town Council. “There’s a real battle ahead,” said Mr Murphy.
MODEL RAILWAYS: Middlesbrough Model Railway Club will hold its annual show on Saturday and Sunday, May 18 and 19, at the Settlement community Centre, St Paul’s Road from 10am to 5pm both days. Entrance is £5 per adult, £4 for pensioners and £3 for children.
MUSIC NIGHT: A music night will be held at Preston Hall Museum as part of the Arts Council’s Music in Museum’s programme, on Saturday, May 27. Well-known band Bridie Jackson and the Arbour will curate the event which will feature a number of bands and musicians. Tickets cost £8 available from the museum.
