A LEADING charity has issued an early rallying call for volunteers to help co-ordinate a collection weekend at their local Tesco store.
Residents in Ingleby Barwick are being urged to take part in the Big Collection weekend on the first weekend in October with the aim of raising thousands of pounds for Diabetes UK.
The charity is recruiting 600 team leader volunteers across the UK and is looking for one to co-ordinate the weekend at the Tesco store in Ingleby Barwick.
Linda Wood, Diabetes UK regional manager for Northern and Yorkshire, said: “The Big Collection weekend is a great way to inform customers about diabetes while raising money for Diabetes UK. But it is only possible with the support of people who give up their time - they will be making a real difference to people with diabetes or those at risk of developing it.”
If anyone is interested in volunteering they should visit www.diabetes.org.uk/tesco-collection-weekend or call 01325-488606 or email northyorks@diabetes.org.uk
