CREATIVE students are about to see their ideas turned into reality as part of a specialist scheme that will bring financial know-how to them.
Sixteen teenagers studying at Cleveland College of Art & Design (CCAD) have put their ideas to paper to design the interior of a new centre in Middlesbrough that will host the Know your Money, Keep the Change (KYM) project in the town.
The centre will be open to young people aged 16-24 who are living in properties owned by any registered social landlord across the town, such as Erimus Housing, Endeavour Housing or Accent Housing.
As part of the scheme, the 16 students took on the task of designing the inside of the facility and came up with a series of designs with a variety of themes.
Two students, Steven Burton and Tyrone Jackson, then took on the scheme as their final project in their BTEC Extended Diploma in Interior, Architecture and Product Design – and their designs will become real life when work starts to fit out the facility.
Tyrone, 18, who is a former pupil of Northfield School in Billingham, said: “I feel really privileged. Out of all the ideas they could have chosen, they have chosen ours. We understand what the project is about and I would encourage people to use it because it is something that can really help them.”
Steven, also 18, who is an ex-pupil of Thornaby Academy, said: “I am really excited to see things turn from our ideas into reality.”
