GET WALKING: As part of Get Walking Week Hartlepool Council has organised a series of events which will continue until the end of June. The first walk takes place at Summerhill Visitor Centre tomorrow (Wednesday) at 10.30am. The next event takes place on Monday, May 13 at the same time in Embleton, people should meet in the car park just off the A689. The walks, which vary in length from five to eight miles, are free and there is no need for booking.
BROKEN JAW: A man suffered head injuries including a broken jaw after he was assaulted outside an east Cleveland social club. The 23-year-old man was outside Brotton Working Men’s Club on Hutchinson Street at approximately 8.30pm on Friday, April 26, when the incident happened. He did not know his assailant, who is described as a man with dark hair and wearing sports clothing. Officers know that there were several people outside the Club when the attack happened and they are asking anyone who has not yet spoken to police to come forward. STAR GAZING: The next meeting of the Cleveland and Darlington Astronomical Society’s is The ALMA telescope: A New Window on the Universe by Dr. Mark Swinbank of Durham University, on Friday May 10 at 7.15pm, for a 7.30pm start. The venue is The Planetarium, Wynyard Woodland Park, Thorpe Thewles, near Stockton. Admission for members of the public is £2 for adults, and £1.50 for concessions.
TENNIS CHANCE: Norton Tennis Club is offering professional junior coaching sessions over the summer from tomorrow (Wednesday). The coaching from 5.30pm to 6.30pm, suitable for children aged six – 12. The club asks for a contribution of no more than £1.50 for the session. The sessions take place at the tennis club, Station Road, Norton, near Stockton, and there is no need to book in advance.
WINTER TALK: Sheila Gibb will talk about Guisborough in Winter for the Cleveland Retired Men’s Association on Wednesday, May 15, at Ayton Drive Community Hall, Redcar. Coffee will be served from 9.30am and the talk starts at 10.30am. For further information call 01642-472793.

CLASSICAL SEASON: MIDDLESBROUGH Town Hall’s Classical Music Season is set to finish in style with performance from the famous Moscow State Symphony Orchestra. They will perform in the Main Hall on Thursday, May 23, starting 7.45pm. Tickets are priced from £12.50, with concessions £11.50.
